Erin Baumgaertel lives in Gig Harbor, WA, with her husband, David, and five and a half year old daughter, Emiline. She homeschools Emiline, and is involved in her church through Bible study, discipleship, and various ministries. At SES she is pursuing a B.A. in religious studies and supporting David as he pursues an M.A. in Philosophy. As a family, they love talking about theology, doing ministry, and sometimes going on outdoor adventures. Erin is a lifelong Christian who had a “childlike” faith. However, her faith remained “childish” until some major life difficulties happened in her early twenties. Since that time, she has been praying for help to ‘want to’ want to know God through His word. He provided the opportunity to become trained as an inductive Bible study leader through Precept ministries. From there she discovered Norman Geisler’s teaching through books and recorded lectures, and found SES, and many of its influential professors and alumni. Going back to college to earn a degree was a pipedream, but the only place she considered attending was SES. Though feeling unqualified, in 2021 Erin filled out an application (no doubt through the prompting of the Holy Spirit) and the rest is history. She is grateful for every day of learning from every class she takes. The opportunity to work on staff as an admissions counselor for SES is a blessing, and she is grateful for the daily interactions with those considering and pursuing an education at SES.
